Did you know that every day in June is Caturday? That's because June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! Over 3 million cats in the US are surrendered or otherwise brought into shelters each year, and that doesn't even scratch the surface of homeless cats on the streets!

To help spread awareness for Adopt a Cat Month, I've created this super cute and fun free printable board game for your family to enjoy. Plus put together a few ways you can help shelter cats in need.

Here are my family's three feline furbabies, Serenity, Tony (whose full name is Antonio Catderes because of his wild antics as a kitten - think Zoro), and Snickers. Serenity is the oldest at 8 years old, Tony is the middle child at 6 years old, and Snickers is the baby at 1 year old. Each of them was adopted or rescued in some way. Yes, I am a cat lady. 😻

June is Adopt a Cat Month. Here's what you can do to help.

If you have the time, resources, and heart to adopt, then please, save a cat. Remember, adopt don't shop. Did you know black cats are least likely to be adopted? Simply because of silly superstitions and myths - you gotta be kitten me!

“A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.” -Groucho Marx

If you aren't able to adopt a cat, don't feel bad, because there are many ways you can help cats in need! Here are ten of my favorite ways to help cats in need:

  1. Spay and neuter your pets
  2. Volunteer at a shelter
  3. Donate cat food and toys to your local rescue
  4. Ask your local shelter if they have a wish list of specific items needed
  5. Make a monetary donation or buy an egift card
  6. Share about an adoptable pet on your Facebook or other social media. Use the hashtag #AdoptACatMonth to spread the word!
  7. Hang up flyers for local adoption events
  8. If you're handy with a sewing machine you can sew comfy kitty beds to donate (if not try this no sew cat bed
  9. Offer to foster cats and kittens
  10. Pick a shelter on Amazon Smile (Amazon donates 0.5% to your selected non profit!)

Free adopt a cat printable board game

This Adopt a Cat board game is such a simple and fun pastime for cat people and regular people alike. It's purrfect for kids age 2-8 years old (and mom or dad, let's be honest).

This game is great for indoors or outdoors, either way your little ones will get moving all while learning to take turns and play together.

You'll want to have at least two players to have the meowst fun.

I've included a rule page with all the cat actions that correspond with the numbers on the dice and a blank rule page so that you can create your own cat actions!

This game has been tried and tested by my own three and five year old, so I know your kiddos will love it too! :)

How to play your printable Adopt a Cat board game:

You will need one 6-sided dice, colored pom poms for player pieces (or anything else you have around the house to represent each player on the board) and at least two players.

  • First, download and then print out your Adopt a Cat board game and the rules page
  • Each player rolls the die to see who will go first
  • Whoever rolls the highest number will go first
  • Take turns rolling the die. For each roll, you must also do the cat
activity associated with the number you rolled on the die
  • The player who reaches the end of the board first wins
and gets to "adopt the cat"!
Tip: You can laminate your board game so that it lasts longer.
