Stress and anxiety can make your life feel like a never-ending uphill battle. You worry about everything from the future, to what you need to do at work, to all of the things you have to do at home. It feels like no matter how hard you try, there's always something else that needs your attention. If you are dealing with anxiety and stress, there are many natural remedies that you can use alone or in addition to other treatments. One such remedy to alleviate this stress is through the use of essential oils. They can help balance out your moods and emotions within minutes; that's why essential oils are so great for aiding in stress and anxiety relief!
Your nervous system as well as the chemistry of your brain can be affected by the properties of various essential oils. They can certainly help with anxiety and depression, but remember they won't cure the problem.
You are an individual with your own unique scent and sense of smell. Not everyone will respond the same way to each oil, so it’s always best for you to try out different oils and pay attention when choosing which ones speak most clearly on how YOU feel about them! There's no right or wrong answer here - just have fun experimenting in discovering what inspires YOU most at this moment :)
With that said, here are a few of the best essential oils that are known for their mood-boosting properties & can help you deescalate anxiety and stress naturally:
Lavender essential oil always seems to come up first on almost any essential oils list. It is multipurpose and one of the easiest essential oils to access.
One of lavender’s main benefits is its soothing properties. It is highly effective against anxiety and should be a staple in anyone’s essential oil collection.
This is another popular stress-relieving oil. Roman chamomile is used to calm nerves and promote relaxation. German chamomile can bring pain relief and has anti-inflammatory properties, so if being unwell is adding to your stress load, this variety can help ease that.
Love essential oils but hate having no place to keep and organize all the recipes you have discovered? This beautiful Ultimate Essential Oil Recipe Binder is digitally hand-crafted & perfect for organizing your favorite aromatherapy recipes. Packed with over 95 different recipes for diffusers, roller bottles, and more!
Vetiver is another essential oil that warms the senses and promotes relaxation. It is known to reduce stress and anxiety in a person. Its very earthy scent is incredibly grounding. It does have a smell that you either love or hate; so if it's the latter try adding a couple of drops of your favorite citrus, like orange.
If you are under constant pressure at work, this is the essential oil for you. In addition to its stress-reducing properties, black pepper helps stimulate circulation and increase energy levels. It also has analgesic properties, so it can work in tandem with lavender to help decrease pain.
Ylang ylang has a unique, pleasant smell and is excellent for helping you unwind when dealing with a long, stressful time period in your life. It is a known mood booster and has the capacity to lift your feelings at the end of a bad day. Use it in the morning, before bed or anytime you need a pick-me-up.
Frankincense is an oil that has been used for thousands of years. It has a timeless scent and it is known to bring feelings of peace, relaxation, and well-being to those who use it.
It is one of the more expensive oils, and although it can be used alone, it is also effective when used in combination with some of the other anti-anxiety oils.
This essential oil is bright and cheery, and perfect for beginning a long day that is sure to include some ups and downs. It is known to affect the autonomic nervous system in a positive way.
Many people associate good feelings with the scent of lemon, and this alone is reason to put some lemon oil into your cabinet of natural remedies.
Geranium is another stress-busting oil. It can be used in the treatment of anxiety, depression and other mood disorders.
It has a sweet and clean scent, not unlike a fresh spring day. Its uplifting power is an excellent way to begin that long walk into the office or the next task on your to-do list.
This oil is good for increasing your calmness and making you feel relaxed. The uplifting, invigorating scent of citrus is a great way to brighten your mood and restore hope.
As you can see, there are plenty essential oils that will help you fight stress and anxiety in your life. There are many other oils that will help you unwind, but this list is a good starting point for fighting stress and anxiety naturally.
Essential oils have been shown to enter the bloodstream when they are inhaled or applied topically. They can be diffused alone or in a combination of oils that team up to combat a specific problem, which in this case is stress and anxiety.
Essential oils can be diluted with a carrier oil and applied to the feet before bed for a good night’s sleep without all-night worrying. Experiment to find the combination that you love and that brings you feelings of peace. Use any carrier oil that you like - whether it be almond, apricot, olive, coconut, avocado, or anything else you have on hand.
Essential oils deserve a place in your line-up of ways to deal with anxiety. Remember that if you have tried natural remedies and nothing seems to be helping, it is worth a trip to the doctor to find out if there is something going on that may warrant some extra help.
With the assistance of essential oils in combination with healthy lifestyle changes and the guidance of a doctor who is familiar with how to incorporate natural therapies with standard therapies, you will be well on your way to full emotional health and a less stressful life.

Are you a mom who spends more time feeling overwhelmed and scatterbrained than you do feeling serene, present, and accomplished? Then we’re going to get on like peas and carrots my friend.
You’re constantly rushing from one place to the next, not being present for your children, over-scheduling yourself, forgetting important errands, no time for yourself or your partner.
You can’t serve your family or yourself when everything around you feels as chaotic as a tornado.
But you believe there’s a way to organize your life without being a drill sergeant.
You believe that someday your mornings will be peaceful where you’ll simply enjoy your coffee and breakfast with your partner and kids without having to worry about the million things to get done and the other million things you forgot to do.
You’ll look on the day with peace knowing that you have a plan. A vision.
But how? This is where I come in, my friend.
I believe in the magic of putting pen to paper. This simple act makes life manageable, doable, memorable, serene.
It ensures that you are present, in the moment, and available for your family. Your time is precious and irreplaceable, just like mine.
Wife and mom of two, I help moms like me simplify and organize their lives by using my unique and hand-designed printables so they can create and enjoy lasting memories with their families.
I started my small business because I was tired of having post-its and lists everywhere. My brain runs a million miles a minute (can anyone relate!?) and my lists keep me accountable. There's just something magical about putting pen to paper. But I couldn’t find a journal that fit my exact needs, which seemed to be ever-changing.
That's why, in the summer of 2018, I started creating and designing my own custom and unique lists, using the various skills I learned throughout my 10+ year career in Information Technology.
These lists morphed into different types of journals and planners that I could print at home for myself. And Journals to Freedom was born!
Along the way, and at a time that I needed it most, I discovered a creative side of me that I had no idea existed! After the births of each of my children, I experienced postpartum depression and anxiety. Channeling some of my energy into creating printables allows me to feel purposeful and empowered by my creations in a different, but just as meaningful, way than being a mother and wife does. This focus does wonders for my mental health.
My mission is to touch lives by bringing joy, creativity, and organization straight to your home.
I want to be a helping hand to other mamas just like me.
And if my little printable problem solvers can help just one person feel more put-together or bring joy just one home, I’ll consider myself successful.
You know you’re on the right path when your work is shared by media. I am so grateful to have been mentioned on popular sites like Best Company and CEO Blog Nation among others.
This is such a huge honor to me.
Affordability is just as important as quality to me. By choosing to shop with me at Journals to Freedom Printables, the “middle-man” is cut out, creating a cost-effective way to bring my affordable, unique, and life-changing printables directly to you.
Congrats! You've read this far, you're amazing and like I said at the beginning, peas and carrots ;)
