There is a copious amount of research surrounding stress. Data has shown that moving ranks higher than other stressors such as divorce or a death in the family. It is important to consider that oftentimes moving takes place in conjunction with additional life changes, which can intensify the stress level associated with moving. Don't be that person who is pulling out of the driveway for the last time thinking, "Oh no! I forgot to forward my mail." Complete the mail forwarding paperwork early. It may take the post office up to a month to process it, so leave plenty of time.
Does the thought of having no internet send you into an immediate panic? If so, handle this annoying formality early. Electricity and water are also important, so don't forget about those utilities. It is better to turn them on early than arrive at your new place and be left in the dark...literally.
There is no need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to moving. Many have moved before you and have thankfully graced us with their wisdom. Our favorite tool is the Moving Binder. It is 33 pages of heaven sent guidance. If you love checklists and want a stress-free move, this is the tool to make it happen.

Your first week in your home will feel so much better when you can easily find your essentials.
If you have the means, consider hiring professionals. There is no shame in needing help. Professional movers can help you pack, lift, and haul the contents of your home faster and safer.
When things get hectic and most of your life is packed into boxes, you will be grateful to have your moving day essentials box. Pack things you use on a daily basis, such as:
Your moving day essentials box will ease the stress of settling in after a long day of moving.
Follow these stress-free moving tips and use your moving day binder and soon this will be a distant memory. Congrats on your new home and the new adventures that await.
